Document: In conclusion, we have developed and validated a high throughput immunoassay that correlates to the LC-MS and accurately quantifies SDMA in biological samples from dogs and cats. Feline chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized by chronic tubulointerstitial nephritis, and inflammation contributes to the progression of renal fibrosis. Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy may reduce intra-renal inflammation and fibrosis following systemic delivery and has demonstrated modest effects in feline CKD following intravenous delivery. However, the effects of perinephric MSC delivery have not been evaluated previously. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the clinical effects of retroperitoneal delivery of MSC in cats with CKD.
