Document: gnificantly decreased in diabetic hyperthyroid cats and was similar to the fructosamine concentration in euthyroid nondiabetic cats. In addition, approximately 45% of the change in serum fructosamine was independent of diabetes. Future studies should be undertaken to explore specific factors that have an impact on fructosamine level. Insulin aspart (Aspart) is a rapid-acting insulin analog that has been shown to be an effective treatment for diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) when administered by intermittent subcutaneous (SC) injection in humans. In cats, rapid-acting insulin analogs have not yet been evaluated, and the most commonly used protocols for DKA involve delivery of regular insulin via constant intravenous infusion, which can be technically challenging. The aim of this study was to determine the pharmacodynamics (PD) and pharmacokinetics (PK) of Aspart following SC and intramuscular (IM) injections in healthy cats.
