In North America, due to the systems developed at the borders, such as the Border Infectious Disease Surveillance (BIDS), there was a substantial reduction in disparities with surveillance capabilities in incompatibility of used case definitions. This resulted in increased diagnostic capacity and laboratory capability in the region 9 .
