Document: Histological examination was performed on samples of all animals with the highest expected burden, that is, after receiving five injections of each 100 μg LEISHDNAVAX and 24 h of recovery, and the respective placebo group as control. Moreover, the immunologically relevant organs thymus, spleen and lymph nodes as well as the skin at the injection site of all animals of all groups were examined histologically. In general, tissue samples were fixed in 7% buffered formalin (eyes in Davidson´s solution), embedded in paraffin, sections prepared and routinely stained with haematoxylin-eosin.
