To do so, we examined 56 family clusters of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza transmission events (Table 3) . Here, 54% (30/56) of transmission clusters identified children as the index case. These data suggest that whilst children can facilitate the intra-household transmission of some viral infections, the data available to date suggest that children have not played a substantive role in the intra-household transmission of SARS-CoV-2.
