Transportin 2, identified using siRNA screens [30] [31] [32] , is also able to enhance nuclear import of PIC. The most important finding was that tRNA molecules themselves can act as nuclear entry chaperones for the HIV PIC. HIV-1 transcription is regulated by the viral promoter located in the 5 LTR of the provirus. The LTR contains binding sites for several transcription factors such as Sp1 and NF-B, NFAT, LEF-1, COUP-TF, Ets1, USF and AP-1 [33] .
