Document: Selected results of the IPA were validated using alternative techniques. These included Western blot, indirect and direct immunofluorescence confocal microscopy, and functional assays from biological replicates. Confocal microscopy, unlike Western blot, does not rely on subcellular fractionation and purification of proteins from mock-or HRSV-infected cells and thus provides complete, independent verification of the results. This information was combined with an examination of the previously existing literature to form the basis of validation for the quantitative proteomics analysis and to further investigate the findings.
