[1] [2] [3] Because of these negative test results, antibiotics were not administered and the owner (veterinary technician) recorded daily aural temperatures (Baby Braun ThermoScan 5 ear thermometer; Kaz US) for the next 30 days. Fever was defined as a temperature recording at or above 38.3°C. A relapsing, cyclic fever pattern was documented ( Figure 1 ) with inactivity accompanying fever spikes.
