For the measurement of infectious virus particles, virus was released from the cells by three rounds of freeze-thawing and virus titers were determined by end-point dilution assay. In the case of infections with RLuc-CVB3 or RLuc-EMCV, cells were lysed at 6-7hr p.i. and Renilla luciferase activity was measured with the Renilla Luciferase Assay System (Promega) according to the manufacturer's instructions. Where indicated, a cell viability MTS assay was performed in parallel as described above.
