The size of the outbreak is much smaller than the size of the whole population in South Korea. It enables us to investigate the detailed transmission dynamics of the infectious disease. This paper is designed to make a situational assessment on the outbreak of MERS in South Korea based on the basic reproductive ratio and the probability of ultimate extinction. Furthermore, spatio-temporal proximity of the occurrence between patients is investigated using an autocorrelation function.
