Duodenal mucosal biopsy samples were endoscopically retrieved for histopathological examination using the World Small Animal Veterinary Association-scheme (WSAVA). Double-marked immunofluorescence microscopy was used to investigate Ki-67 for identifying proliferating cells in combination with CD3 to detect T-cells in 4 different areas (epithelium (E) and lamina propria (LP) of villi and crypts, respectively).
