Snippet: Fecal samples were collected within 15 minutes after defecation from 12 healthy cats, at a boarding facility in Guelph, ON, Canada. Samples were aliquoted and the first aliquot was frozen at À80°C within one hour of defecation (time point (T) 0). Remaining aliquots were maintained at ambient temperature (20-23°C) and frozen at À80°C at 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72 and 96 hours after collection. Document: Fecal samples were collected within 15 minutes after defecation from 12 healthy cats, at a boarding facility in Guelph, ON, Canada. DNA was extracted from all aliquots, and the V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene was amplified using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The PCR products were sequenced with next-generation sequencing (Illumina MiSeq). Mothur software was used for bioinformatics analysis.
