Snippet: 27 dogs undergoing laparoscopic liver biopsy at Colorado State University were prospectively enrolled. Blood was collected prior to the procedure for chemistry profile, platelet count, platelet aggregometry (Multiplate Ã’ analyzer), thromboelastography, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, antithrombin activity, fibrinogen, d-dimers, and fibrin degradation products. Document: 27 dogs undergoing laparoscopic liver biopsy at Colorado State University were prospectively enrolled. Blood was collected prior to the procedure for chemistry profile, platelet count, platelet aggregometry (Multiplate Ã’ analyzer), thromboelastography, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, antithrombin activity, fibrinogen, d-dimers, and fibrin degradation products. Bleeding was scored based on whether Gelfoam Ã’ (absorbable gelatin sponge, USP) was utilized by the laparoscopist to aid in control of bleeding. Gelfoam Ã’ was applied when active bleeding persisted for >30 seconds at one or more biopsy sites.
