Following MITC, resolution of urolithiasis was achieved in 70% of the cases reviewed. The cystostomy tube was in place for an average of 8 days (range of 6-13 days). Complications were associated with the presence of calcium carbonate uroliths (n = 2), displacement of the tube from the bladder and accompanying uroabdomen (n = 3), or hemoabdomen (n = 1). Identifying the urolith type and utilizing a suitable tube and trocar may mitigate potential complications. Based on these cases, MITC shows promise to be a low cost yet effective method of managing obstructive urolithiasis due to phosphatic uroliths in male goats. Fructosamine is widely used as a long term hyperglycemic biomarker in humans and dogs, but the clinical usefulness of fructosamine as a hypoglycemic biomarker is uncertain. Our primary objective was to evaluate the clinical utility of fructosamine in quantifying the magnitude of hypoglycemia and negative energy balance (NEB) during early lactation in dairy cattle.
