    Document: In the present study, we demonstrate that there is a significant correlation of age with the induction of SGVHD; virtually a 100% incidence occurs if the animals are 4 wk of age at the time of transplant, thereafter, the incidence rapidly decreases with age. Surprisingly, the age of the marrow donor was a much more critical variable for the induction of SGVHD than the age of the recipient. Furthermore, evidence is provided that the inability to induce SGVHD when using marrow from donors >3 mo of age is due to marrowderived mature T lymphocytes. Addition of these T cells to marrow from animals 1 mo of age inhibited the induction of SGVHD.
