Snippet: Oxidative stress is one of the most important factors in β cell loss (20) . However, little is known regarding the correlation between Ang (1-7) and oxidative stress in the pancreas. In the present study, the protective effect of Ang (1-7) on oxidative β cell damage was investigated. Document: Oxidative stress is one of the most important factors in β cell loss (20) . However, little is known regarding the correlation between Ang (1-7) and oxidative stress in the pancreas. In the present study, the protective effect of Ang (1-7) on oxidative β cell damage was investigated. The protective effect was shown to occur by improving GSIS, glucose stimulated calcium (GSCa) responses and the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), which was demonstrated previously (21) , and reducing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The selective receptor antagonist A779 was used to confirm the protective role of Ang (1-7).
