Moderate/severe bleeding was more likely in cats with a nodular liver. Cats with a higher initial platelet count had a greater decrease in hematocrit. Complications were associated with a lower pre-biopsy hematocrit in cats. In both dogs and cats, there was no correlation between the change in hematocrit/complications and PT, aPTT, bilirubin, serum liver enzyme activity, the number of biopsies, biopsy needle gauge, histological diagnosis, vitamin K administration or the presence of ascites, focal or diffuse disease.
