Attractiveness of an Aggregation Pheromone Lure and Chicken Droppings to Adults and Larvae of Alphitobius diaperinus (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

Field Test to Determine Pheromone Lure Attractiveness in High Lesser Mealworm Population. Adults. No signiÞcant differences were found in dayby-treatment interaction suggesting the consistent ef-fect of pheromone over time (F ϭ 2.20; df ϭ 3, 169; P ϭ 0.08). The signiÞcant interaction among days and blocks revealed that population distribution inside the poultry house changed over space and time (F ϭ 3.57; df ϭ 9, 169; P ϭ 0.0004). Interactions involving blocks and treatments were nonsigniÞcant, indicating a consistent pheromone effect over space (F ϭ 2.09; df ϭ 3, 169; P ϭ 0.10). A 30-fold reduction in adults trapped was observed after the introduction of chicks (days 1 and 2 vs. day 3 and 4). The pheromone-baited traps caught 2.6-fold more adults than untreated controls (Table 4 ).
