Snippet: All three potassium supplements were effective in treating hypokalemia secondary to CKD in the majority of cats despite quite variable dosing, but treatment response depending on the definition of response used. No indication of alkalinizing effect was seen, and prospective studies are needed for more thorough assessment. Document: All three potassium supplements were effective in treating hypokalemia secondary to CKD in the majority of cats despite quite variable dosing, but treatment response depending on the definition of response used. No indication of alkalinizing effect was seen, and prospective studies are needed for more thorough assessment. Symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) and neutrophil gelatinaseassociated lipocalin (NGAL) have been suggested as useful biomarkers for evaluating renal disease. The objective of this study was to assess the circulating SDMA and NGAL concentrations in dogs before and after correction of dehydration.
