Students were asked to self-assess their level of experience (high, medium and low), and then characteristics of the patient, restrainer, catheter location and type were recorded as well as success or failure in catheter placement. Degree of "coaching" was also recorded. The chi-square test was used to evaluate differences between insertion in dogs and cats. A univariate logistic regression analysis was used to assess the relationship between success and all other variables.
