The present study showed that the inhibition of PRRSV infection in vitro occurred as host cell membrane cholesterol decreased due to MβCD treatment. This effect could be counteracted by the addition of exogenous cholesterol and demonstrated the importance of membrane cholesterol for PRRSV infection.
