Naphthopyrones, other primary components, exhibit antidiabetic (15, 16) , antimicrobial (17) , antiestrogenic (18) , antiallergic (19) and anthelmintic effects (20) . At present, the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China recommends the use of chrysophanol and aurantio-obtusin as the indicator components, and the quality of Cassiae semen is evaluated primarily by assessing the content of these two compounds (1) .
