Document: Continuous variables are expressed as the means¡standard deviations (SDs), as medians with interquartile ranges (IQRs), or as percentages for categorical variables. Student's t-test or the Mann-Whitney U-test for continuous variables was employed to evaluate the differences between the DM/ PM groups. The 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were calculated using binomial distribution. All of the variables that significantly differed statistically in the univariable analysis (comparison between patients with and without HZ episodes or with and without neurological sequelae) were selected for adjustment. The sex-and age-adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% CIs were calculated using an unconditional logistic model, and p,0.05 was considered statistically significant.
