The following drugs were used alone or in combination for corticosteroid sparing: azathioprine (2-3 mg/kg/day), methotrexate (20-25 mg/week), cyclosporine (2-3 mg/kg/day), mycophenolate mofetil (2-3 g/day), leflunomide (20 mg/day), cyclophosphamide (0.5-1.0 g/m 2 of body surface), intravenous human immunoglobulin (1 g/ kg/day for two consecutive days) and chloroquine diphosphate (3-4 mg/kg/day).
