Snippet: Src was the first oncogene identified in the Rous sarcoma virus (RSV), which infects chickens (19) , and it has been implicated in multiple signaling pathways that regulate processes such as proliferation, survival, death, and angiogenesis (20) (21) (22) (23) (24) . Src is considered to be both a survival factor (32, 33) and a death factor (33) (34) (35) ; however, to the best of our knowledge, the effects of host Src on host cell death in human .....
Document: Src was the first oncogene identified in the Rous sarcoma virus (RSV), which infects chickens (19) , and it has been implicated in multiple signaling pathways that regulate processes such as proliferation, survival, death, and angiogenesis (20) (21) (22) (23) (24) . Src is considered to be both a survival factor (32, 33) and a death factor (33) (34) (35) ; however, to the best of our knowledge, the effects of host Src on host cell death in human or animal herpesvirus infections have never been reported. The findings from the present study suggest that Src contributes to the survival of host cells in response to infection with gallid herpesvirus 1 but that it is not absolutely required for virus-induced cell death (Fig. 4A to D) .
