For critically ill patients admitted to the ICU, the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), Sequential (sepsis-related) Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA), and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) scores were monitored on the day of ICU admission. Two researchers independently reviewed the data to double check the correct of collected data. For the data which were not available for electronic medical records, the researchers directly communicated with patients and doctors to ascertain the data integrity.
