Snippet: In the late post-engraftment phase after autolo-gous HSCT, the immune system is reconstituted and restored, which is consistent with the time at which chronic GVHD typically develops after allogeneic HSCT. Therefore, autologous transplant recipients rarely experience opportunistic infections at this time, but allogeneic HSCT recipients (who take chronic immunosuppressive drugs for several months) are at risk of infection. Document: In the late post-engraftment phase after autolo-gous HSCT, the immune system is reconstituted and restored, which is consistent with the time at which chronic GVHD typically develops after allogeneic HSCT. Therefore, autologous transplant recipients rarely experience opportunistic infections at this time, but allogeneic HSCT recipients (who take chronic immunosuppressive drugs for several months) are at risk of infection. In this period, infectious diseases may continue to develop. In addition, the immune deficiency resulting from chronic GVHD is associated with infections by encapsulated bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Neisseria meningitidis [2, 12] . Deficiencies in immunoglobulin G2 (IgG2) and IgG4 have been reported in patients with chronic and severe GVHD, and are associated with severe pneumonia, meningitis, and sepsis due to S. pneumoniae [23] .
