In a recent study, Jain et al [12] recruited 68% of eligible adult patients and estimated the overall incidence of CAP to be 24.8 cases per 10 000 adults per year, which is similar to our results. In comparison, Torres et al [23] recently determined in a review that the overall incidence of CAP in Europe was approximately 16 per 10 000 population.
