It is essential that CPxV is considered as a differential diagnosis, and investigated, via cytology, histopathology and/or PCR of pulmonary aspirates or cutaneous lesions, in order that this potentially serious zoonotic infection can be identified at an early stage, the case treated appropriately, and with all necessary precautions taken.
