A right apical systolic heart murmur (median grade = 5 [IQR 4-5]) was detected in all dogs, and 13/32 dogs (41%) presented clinical signs related to EA. Dilation of the RA was moderate to severe in most dogs (median RA to left atrium (LA) ratio = 1.45 ). Several echocardiographic indices used in human pediatrics to evaluate EA were calculated, including the displacement index (distance from the hinge point of the anterior mitral leaflet to that of the delaminated septal leaflet divided by body surface area: median = 17.4 mm/m 2 [IQR 12.0-21.9]) and the Celermajer index (ratio between the RA area and the sum of the areas of the RV, LA and left ventricle, median = 1.0 [IQR 0.5-1.3]).
