The Catalyst DxÒ and VetstatÒ showed good correlation to the Olympus AU600 for Na + and K + concentrations and Na + : K + ratio. For the Catalyst DxÒ these were r = 0.714, 0.830 and 0.858 respectively, all with a P < 0.0001. For the VetstatÒ these were r = 0.816, 0.955 and 0.959, all with a P < 0.0001. The mean difference (Bland-Altman plot) for Na + was À5.84 mmol/L with a standard deviation of 3.69 for the Catalyst DxÒ and À11.67 mmol/L and 2.46 for the VetstatÒ. The mean difference and standard deviation for K+ was À0.15 mmol/L and 0.36 respectively for the Catalyst DxÒ and 0.01 mmol/L and 0.17 for the VetstatÒ. Finally, the mean difference and standard deviation for the Na + :K + ratio was À0.20 and 2.90 respectively for the Catalyst DxÒ and À3.07 and 1.83 for the VetstatÒ.
