Document: Oral malignant melanoma (OMM) is a locally aggressive nonâ€odontogenic oral tumor in dogs that usually metastasizes to the regional lymph nodes and lungs. Radical surgical excision is considered the golden standard of treatment, but multimodal approach to the treatment is recommended. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy and immunotherapy have all been employed in the treatment of canine OMM with some success. In the present study, we evaluated the efficacy of a multimodal treatment protocol for canine OMM combining cytoreductive surgery, electrochemotherapy with bleomycin (ECT) and gene electrotransfer with plasmid encoding canine ILâ€12 (ILâ€12 GET).
