Irregular nasopharyngeal mucosal surface on rhinoscopy and presence of mucous exudate on histopathology were associated with a worse overall treatment response (p=0.02 and p=0.04, respectively). Twenty‐eight dogs (56%) relapsed after treatment was discontinued. There was a high negative correlation between treatment response and risk of relapse (Spearman rho=‐0.74, p<0.001). Furthermore, risk of relapse was significantly associated with intensity of the exudate on histopathology (p=0.02).
