Document: The histopathological differentiation between canine intestinal lymphoma and lymphoplasmacellular enteritis can be difficult and often requires additional diagnostic procedures. Specific microRNA expression patterns have already been detected in different tumor types in humans and animals. Studies on the function of microRNAs in tumor cells may help to understand tumor pathogenesis. The aim of this study was to compare microRNA expression patterns in samples of intestinal T‐cell lymphoma, lymphoplasmacellular enteritis, and healthy gut tissue. Additionally, microRNAs that were highly differentially expressed in lymphomas were selected, and their effect on cell death and cell proliferation was studied in the canine T‐cell lymphoma cell line CL‐1.
