As a control of induced caspase 12, Vero cells were treated with the ER stress-inducing agent tunicamycin, which activates caspase 12 and translocates it into the nucleus. Caspase 12 was localized in the nucleus in infected cells and in cells incubated with tunicamycin, but not in mock-infected ones.
