Although the eradication of smallpox is one of the many successes of global immunization programs, many vaccine challenges remain, especially for the design of effective vaccines for major killers, such as AIDS, dengue fever, and malaria. 69 Furthermore, there is an urgent need to develop vaccines for EIDs, including the diseases mentioned above and neglected diseases, such as those caused by Chikungunya, Hendra, and Nipah viruses.
