Snippet: RNA interference (RNAi) is a short, double-strand RNA induced-process that can target the mRNA of a specific sequence for degradation [9, 10] . Post-transcriptional gene silencing can be mediated by endogenous microRNAs (miRNAs), exogenous small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), and short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs). Document: RNA interference (RNAi) is a short, double-strand RNA induced-process that can target the mRNA of a specific sequence for degradation [9, 10] . Post-transcriptional gene silencing can be mediated by endogenous microRNAs (miRNAs), exogenous small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), and short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs). RNAi technology is recognized as a promising, novel nucleic acid-based tool for use against various diseases, including cancer, infectious diseases and genetic disorders. RNAi reagents have also been reported to potently and specifically inhibit the replication of different viruses, including HIV, HBV [11] , HSV [12] , SAR-CoV [13] , influenza virus [14, 15] , coxsackievirus [16] and others. Thus, the development of RNAis as possible antiviral agents for hantavirus infection is of considerable interest [17] .
