Prednisone was effective in suppressing lung damage. Administration of CHCP (50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg) significantly attenuated the neutrophil accumulation, alveolar wall thickening, and intra-alveolar exudation. However, serious pulmonary inflammation was still seen in the low-dose group of CHCP (25 mg/kg). The above results were confirmed by the total lung injury scores listed in Table 2 .
