    Document: The results of this study show that the UPC ratio from a single sample, averaged sample, and pooled sample are comparable in PLN dogs receiving medical therapy when UPC ≤ 4. In PLN dogs with UPC > 4, more variability between methods exists but a previous study in X-linked nephropathy dogs not receiving medical therapy showed this degree of variability may not be clinically relevant. However, future studies are needed to verify if this is true in all dogs with PLN while receiving medical therapy. The purpose of this retrospective study was to gain insight into the effect of three oral potassium supplements: potassium gluconate tablets (PGT), potassium gluconate powder (PGP) and potassium citrate granules (PCG) on hypokalemia and serum bicarbonate.
