Diagnosis categories were distributed as follows: 23% infectious, 23% gastrointestinal, 17% neoplastic, 11% hepatobiliary, 6% malnutrition, 6% inflammatory, 6% unknown, 4% cardiac, 2% neurologic and 2% toxin. Anemia was the most common CBC abnormality, present in 37.5% of cats. The most common biochemical abnormalities were hyperglycemia (45.8%), increased BUN (22.9%), hyperproteinemia (22.9%) and increased ALT (22.9%). The median cholesterol concentration was 67.5 mg/dL (range 50-74 mg/dL). Comorbidities were present in 37% of cats with renal and cardiac disease being the most prevalent at 27% and 16%, respectively.
