Comparison of the Luminex xTAG Respiratory Viral Panel Fast v2 Assay With Anyplex II RV16 Detection Kit and AdvanSure RV Real-Time RT-PCR Assay for the Detection of Respiratory Viruses

The final results of the assays for the collected specimens are summarized in Table 2 . Among the repeated specimens, 79 specimens showed discrepancies between the two assays. In these discrepant cases, we compared the final Anyplex II RV16 assay results to those of the other two assays. When there were discrepancies among the three results, we used the results of the second (repeated) assay, because the specimens' status was considered more comparable and reliable in the second assay. The total agreement between the xTAG RVP Fast v2 and Anyplex II RV16 assays ranged from 94.1% to 100% ( Table 2 ). The Cohen's kappa value ranged from 0.66 to 1.00, and was particularly low for the adenovirus, coronavirus NL63, and parainfluenza type 3 specimens (kappa 0.66-0.77, indicating moderate agreement).
