Initially the blood was stimulated using specific combinations of either arachidonic acid/epinephrine (AA/EPI) or ADP/U46619, designed to assess the effects of the anti-thrombotic agents aspirin and clopidogrel respectively. After 5 minutes stimulation, the blood samples were fixed using a patented platelet fixative solution developed for human platelets, which allows the delayed analysis of P-selectin an established marker of platelet activation.
