TMV can utilize the host ER as the primary site of envelope glycoprotein biogen-esis, genomic replication and particle assembly. If the translation of TMV-RNA occurred in the ER, the accumulation of TMV protein would inevitably lead to cellular stress responses, such as ERS, which may promote autophagy in HeLa cells. To test this assumption, three approaches were taken.
