For patients at high risk of hypercapnic respiratory failure, treatment must begin with 24-28% low concentration oxygen therapy, followed by oxygen infusion with the oxygen saturation maintained at 88-92% and pH ≥7.35 while the arterial blood gas test results are being repeatedly checked [165] .
