Document: Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and additional marginalized genders and sexualities. LGBTQ+ campus resource centers provide essential services for college and university communities and are increasingly necessary in light of the ongoing and reverberating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This commentary describes specific needs of LGBTQ+ student populations in accessing health care, psychosocial support, advocacy, and academic support in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. We briefly review current literature suggesting a disproportionate effect of COVID-19 on both general LGBTQ+ populations and LGBTQ+ college students. We then describe how the functions of LGBTQ+ campus resource centers-support, education, and advocacy-are aligned with the specific needs of these students. We argue that these centers are essential campus resources that must receive continued funding and support to address the unique needs of LGBTQ+ students affected by COVID-19. We conclude with suggestions for action for administrators, faculty, and students to ensure the continuity of LGBTQ+ campus resource centers.
