Snippet: Overall, we propose a very simple pooling strategy ( Figure 1 ) and thoroughly evaluate the relevance of this test to the COVID-19 pandemic. First, on a 96-well plate, pool each row (8) and each column (12) , and perform a total of 20 tests on the pooled samples across the 96 individuals being tested (plus appropriate positive and negative controls). Then, all samples for which both the row and column were positive are re-run in a validation test.....
Document: Overall, we propose a very simple pooling strategy ( Figure 1 ) and thoroughly evaluate the relevance of this test to the COVID-19 pandemic. First, on a 96-well plate, pool each row (8) and each column (12) , and perform a total of 20 tests on the pooled samples across the 96 individuals being tested (plus appropriate positive and negative controls). Then, all samples for which both the row and column were positive are re-run in a validation test to determine which individuals are positive. We show below that this strategy works to improve upon existing testing and evaluate the benefits across both simulated and real testing data. 8
