Document: The pandemic of COVID-19 caused globally transition to online learning. This transition was very rapid and people have been struggling to optimize the education within the lockdowns for a very long time, in Europe since March 2020 up to now in May 2021. While many education institutions in general tried to switch to e-learning, this was not so easy in the case of older adult education as there are some prerequisites that made the adaptation to online learning by older adults more difficult than by any other age-group. The article discuses older adult English language courses in the time of pandemic in Central and Eastern Europe. The focus lays especially on the educational technology usage within the older adult English language classes mainly at the Universities of the Third Age (U3As) or similar institutions in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and to a certain extent also in Germany and Austria. © 2021 IEEE.
