Snippet: where I D,i and I W,i are the numbers of 'dirty' and 'washed' infected individuals respectively at airport i and N i is the total population at airport i. The probability that an individual with washed hands becomes dirty is Π W →D = 1 − exp(−θ ) and the probability that an individual with dirty hands will wash his/her hands, within each one-hour time step, is Π D→W = 1 − exp(−p). Using these probabilities, the computational model .....
Document: where I D,i and I W,i are the numbers of 'dirty' and 'washed' infected individuals respectively at airport i and N i is the total population at airport i. The probability that an individual with washed hands becomes dirty is Π W →D = 1 − exp(−θ ) and the probability that an individual with dirty hands will wash his/her hands, within each one-hour time step, is Π D→W = 1 − exp(−p). Using these probabilities, the computational model generates the stochastic epidemic transitions for the traveling agents over time. In our analysis, we vary the model parameter p, considering different hand-hygiene interventions, and analyze their impact on global disease spreading.
