Snippet: The heterogeneity in choice of endpoints reflects the manifold potential treatment effects, the various different decision makers involved and the different patient populations under study. Document: The heterogeneity in choice of endpoints reflects the manifold potential treatment effects, the various different decision makers involved and the different patient populations under study. Nonetheless, harmonization of the different endpoints is an essential step to fasten decision making of public health authorities and clinicians (2) . At the same time, information on treatment effects should not be lost by oversimplification. Our proposal for harmonizing endpoints between and also within trials is based on information about major clinical events available in most of the registered clinical trials, namely mechanical ventilation, hospitalization and mortality.
