The criteria for suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 were based on the criteria previously established by the WHO 3, 4 and patients who met the WHO criteria were included in our study. Patients who were < 18 years, whose entire stay in hospital lasted for < 48 hours were excluded from the analysis. This study was approved by the National Health Commission of China and the Ethics Commission of Hankou Hospital (hkyy2020-005). The Ethics Commission of Hankou Hospital waived the requirement for obtaining informed consent.
